Finally all weekend we be holding a Chainsaw Warrior Challange. Can you save New York from the evil Darkness in 40 minutes? This boardgame has beaten the best of us, do you have what it takes?

Legend of the Five Rings Irish Kotei 2010

We are once again pleased to announce that this year’s Irish Kotei will be hosted by Leprecon, the oldest gaming convention in Ireland.

The Irish Kotei is considered one of the best in the World, drawing multiple World Champions every year, and has great prize support including the “Memorial Quentin McSiskey Award for Last Place” in honour of a man who, though he still lives, has had all his skill pass away.

This year’s Kotei Season deals with The Plague War, the start of the new L5R Mega-game, and once again it won’t just be decided by the tournament but also by the Spirit side events. Our Spirit event is “Build-Your-Own-Banner”: we’ll provide all the materials needed, and just like kids in playschool you’ll get to represent your Clan with a mixture of paper, poster paint and toilet roll inserts.

Tickets for the Kotei are €30, including admission to the convention for the weekend. You can buy tickets online at the Leprecon Shop

CCGs and Boardgames

Hello all! My name is Aidan Duggan and I’m this years CCGs and Boardgames director. This year we hope to continue offering the same level of CCGs events as last year. We aim to have a big santioned Magic the Gathering event along with the usual drafts and other favoured formats. Yu-gi-oh will also return after it successful inclusion last year. If anyone would like to see a tournament hosted for their favourative CCG please send me an email to ccgs@leprecon.info and we’ll see what we can arrange.

And that brings me to Boardgames! This year I hope to give boardgames their own events, giving people the opportunity to play games they have never played and also find out who is the best boardgamer. These events will take place in a normal slot, so if there isn’t an RPG you fancy you can spend the time playing a boardgame instead. First off, this year we’ll be hosting a Race for the Galaxy Championship! Details of which will come later. We’ll also run a series of Battlestar Galactic games for new players and experienced players, and a Setters of Catan tournament. And last but not least we’ll have a Chainsaw Warrior Competition, for those with 40 minutes to spare to help save New York! We’ll also arrange demo games of some of the more fringe games we have in our collection. Watch this space for a more detailed timetable and more details about the events.
