Pay attention maggots, for below lie the final details of Leprecon’s Wargames schedule , read on only ye of brave constitution:

Warhammer 40k, Saturday & Sunday, 1750 points. This year Leprecon hopes its 40k tournament will be bigger and better than last years was. To this effect the prize for this year is a fully painted 1000 point Ork army, which we all know is bigger and better than last years Space Marines. This army will go to the finest player in attendance (or at least the one who beats everyone else) so please come and try your hand, it’ll be good fun either way. Entry into the tournament is 20 Euro and includes a weekend ticket.

Warmachine and Hordes, Sunday, 35 points. Our local Dublin Pressganger will be running a one day 35 point Warmachine and Hordes tournament using the latest Mark II rules. The tournament format will be the new 2010 Steamroller rules and use the January 29th PDF for Hordes Mark II. We’re hoping for a decent number of players and some good ol’ fashioned competition in its best form: Giant killing machines vs. giant killing monstrosities. Entry into the tournament is 20 Euro and includes a weekend ticket.

Warhammer Ancient Battles: We’ll have a demo table of Warhammer Ancient Battles running throughout the weekend so drop by the table and have a go at it. It should be good fun and offers a fine opportunity to prove to your friends nto only how awesome Carthage really was but how if you were in charge you would have taken Rome. This event is free to play.

Battletech: We will have a member of the Catalyst Demo Team with a Battletech demo for people to play on Saturday so if you’re at all interested in mech combat on any scale you should give it a try and even if you’re not you should still give it a try. This event will be free to play.

We are once again pleased to announce that this year’s Irish Kotei will be hosted by Leprecon, the oldest gaming convention in Ireland.

The Irish Kotei is considered one of the best in the World, drawing multiple World Champions every year, and has great prize support including the “Memorial Quentin McSiskey Award for Last Place” in honour of a man who, though he still lives, has had all his skill pass away.

This year’s Kotei Season deals with The Plague War, the start of the new L5R Mega-game, and once again it won’t just be decided by the tournament but also by the Spirit side events. Our Spirit event is “Build-Your-Own-Banner”: we’ll provide all the materials needed, and just like kids in playschool you’ll get to represent your Clan with a mixture of paper, poster paint and toilet roll inserts.

Tickets for the Kotei are €30, including admission to the convention for the weekend. You can buy tickets online at the Leprecon Shop

Due to the impending release of Warmachine Mark II and the field test rules for Hordes Mark II I am proud to announce that Leprecon will be running its Warmachine and Hordes tournament as Mark II. So now that I’ve made my big splashy announcement I’m sure any interested parties actually want to know the details of this here tournament:

The tournament will run all day on Sunday and be run by our lovely local Pressgangers. Entry into the tournament will be 20 Euro, which will include entry into the con for the weekend.

The points cost for the tournament is preliminarily set at 35 points (which is roughly 500 points in the Mark I rules) and it is currently set to be run as Steamroller barring any big announcement by Privateer Press of a new Mark II format.

Last year, we had the Leprecon Gamer Village at Jacob’s Inn, and this year, they’re more than happy to have us back in what (as mandated in the Evil Villain’s Guidebook) I must refer to as the “Secret Lair.” Jacob’s is a wonderful hostel, really well kept and with fantastic deals and rooms to suit everyone from private single, double or twin rooms to spacious 12-bed dorms. After last year, I personally was so happy with it, I’ll be booking in again myself.

The process is slightly different this year. In order to book this year, you must contact Jenny Farrell at Jacobs directly by emailing groups@isaacs.ie and say you’re looking to book as part of the Leprecon group. They’ll tell you the price (prices are from about €25pppn for a 12-bed, other rooms may vary) and how to secure the booking by credit card or other payment as appropriate. Below is a sample email for you to copy/paste and edit as appropriate. Please remember to edit the emails as I don’t want a bunch of bookings in the name of “insert name here!”

Dear Ms Farrell,

My name is [insert name here] and I wish to book one place in a 12-bed dorm room as part of the Leprecon group for the nights of the 12th and 13th of March, 2010. Please send me the details of cost and payment methods.

Best Regards

[insert name here]

Please ensure you book early to avoid disappointment as there will be a Rugby match on that weekend in Dublin, and while it is a pretty big hostel, it could fill up fast!

If this does happen, do not despair: there are other hostels you could try:

Isaacs Hostel – http://www.isaacs.ie/isaacs_hostel/home.aspx
Kinlay House – http://www.kinlaydublin.ie/
Ashfield House – http://www.ashfieldhouse.ie/

If you fancy splashing out a little more on a hotel or guesthouse, there are several very close to the con indeed, including one directly across the road:

The Lombard (Formerly Mahaffey’s) – http://www.thesmithgroup.ie/thelombard/index.html
The O’Callaghan hotels (The Davenport, Mont Clare among others) http://www.ocallaghanhotels.com/dublinmain.aspx
Holiday Inn – http://www.holidayinndublin.ie/
And many more (googlemap search of the area around Goldsmith!)

This year at Leprecon we will be running a two day Warhammer 40k tournament. The tournament will be 1750 points and will last six rounds, three rounds each day. The tournament will cost 20 Euro entry fee which includes entry to the con for the weekend.

The first place prize will be a fully painted army, specific army as yet to be determined but I’ll be sure to tell you when I know, and the second and third place prizes will be determined based on the number of players we’ve got. Basically, the more players that show up the nicer second adn third place prizes we’ll get. So bring all your friends, beat them, and get an awesome prize for it!

That’s all the news for now on this front, but I’ll be sure to keep you informed of all the goings on, and as usual feel free to email me if you have any questions/requests.

Hello again! I hope you liked the RPG blurbs, because we also have a few LARPs for you to participate in over the weekend, and they’re just as good!

Here are the blurbs for the anticipated games:

JumpTech 6: Damocles – Nick Huggins

Strange things are afoot and coincidences abound in the four systems. How can a trio of JumpShips be sighted in foreign space when there are only seven such craft, all of which are accounted for? Data storage units have been found, hinting at the origins of a lost civilisation, but can it really be coincidence that three of them were found almost at the same time on several different worlds? The war between the Humans and the Teth may be over, but a greater conflict lies on the horizon. Can the governments and the Jump families survive while still squabbling amongst themselves?

The Kingdom – Camarilla Ireland

“An object that struck the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks on Saturday, causing a mysterious illness among local residents, was a rare kind of meteorite, scientists announced today.

A team of Student researchers confirmed the origins of the object, which crashed near Kilorglin.

No statement about the illness which is affecting locals was given although a local GP has said it is probably just a coincidence.”

Something weird is going on in County Kerry.

Christmas in Valhalla – Sandra Duggan

Every year the gods from all walks of life from all around the world descend on Valhalla to enjoy the festivities. There’s music, dancing, wine, women and song just for starters.

But what happened to those lesser gods that don’t get invited? Those who aren’t welcome at the hippest party in these parts? What would aeons of bitterness and being the social outcast do to anyone? Want to find out?

The Demon-Zombie-Ghost Pirate Le Chuck is dead… – Aidan Marsh & Alex Tang

…Again.

With any luck though, this time he’ll stay down for good.

Unfortunately, this leaves the local in something of a predicament. Le Chuck was the most feared pirate around, and now that he’s gone there are rather a lot of pirates who wouldn’t mind the position. Swords will clash an insults will fly as the applicants gather in the Scumm Bar to determine who will hold the title of Most Dreaded Pirate of the Tri-Island Area.

Where There’s a Will – Shane O’hUid, Brian McNally and Liam O’Tailliuir

Old Granda Frank has passed away, rest him. Sure it’s probably for the best that he’s up there with May again, forgive me for saying it but towards the end he had some notions in that head of his. The funeral was grand, it’s a shame but it’s one of the few things that brings the family together, from all the various walks of life and corners of the world. There was a bit of bother over who’s going to get the wine cellar and who’s getting the Jaguar, but sure we’ll find all that out this afternoon now, at the will reading. I’m sure Granda Frank made the right decisions.

Cheers all,
